Unchained Goals App Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data the Unchained Goals app collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights. It applies to the Unchained Goals app on iPhone, Android and the web.
1. Who we are
Unchained Goals is provided by Unchained For Success Ltd ("UFSL", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17012282, registered office Unit 7 Amber Business Village, Amber Close, Amington, Tamworth, B77 4RP. UFSL is the data controller for your personal data. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under number ZC264805.
The app is built for us, and its servers are managed for us, by our technology partner, Crevion Commons LLC. Crevion Commons does not access the content of your account. Its access is limited to what is needed to run and maintain the servers, under a written data processing agreement and only on our instructions.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@unchainedforsuccess.com.
2. The data we collect
Your account
- Your name, email address and username, and optionally a display name, location and profile photo.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash that we cannot read.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, an identifier from that provider. For Apple, we also hold an encrypted sign-in token so we can disconnect Apple when you delete your account.
- Your settings, such as time zone, reminder time and notification preferences.
What you write and track in the app
- Your purpose, vision, goals, plans, milestones, habits and habit check-ins.
- Your "why", ownership and belief statements.
- Reflections and journal entries, including mood ratings, wins, challenges and anything else you choose to write.
- Your capacity and schedule, such as commitments and time blocks.
- Your conversations with the AI coach.
- If you invite an accountability partner, their email address and the fact that you invited them.
Data the app generates about your use
- Progress measures and insights calculated from your activity. These include streaks, consistency scores, an avoidance indicator and a working-style profile used to tailor coaching.
- A record of changes to key statements, such as goals and beliefs, so you can see how they evolved.
- The dates you were last active and last signed in.
Devices and security
- A push-notification token for your device, if you allow notifications.
- For each signed-in device: the device type or browser description, and when it was last used, so you can stay signed in securely.
- Technical server logs, including IP address and the requests your device made.
Subscriptions and payments
- Your subscription plan, status, trial dates and billing period.
- A reference to your purchase from Apple, Google or Stripe.
- We never receive or store your card details. Payments are handled by Apple, Google or Stripe.
What we do not collect
- Your date of birth, phone number, contacts, location from your device, photos (other than a profile photo you choose), or health records.
- We have no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools in the app.
3. Sensitive information
The app does not ask for health information. But reflections, journal entries and coach conversations are free text, and you may choose to mention your health, mental wellbeing or other sensitive matters. Mood ratings may also reveal something about your wellbeing.
If you do, we use that information only to provide the service to you. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you choose to share it. You can remove it at any time by deleting the entry or your account.
The AI coach is not a medical, therapy or crisis service. If you are in distress or at risk, contact your local emergency services, NHS 111, or Samaritans on 116 123 (UK).
4. How we use your data and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Create and run your account, store your goals and content, and provide the app's features | Contract |
| Generate AI coaching responses and personalised insights | Contract |
| Send reminders and push notifications you have switched on | Consent (you can turn these off at any time) |
| Send service emails, such as verification codes, password resets and account notices | Contract |
| Manage your free trial and subscription, and prevent billing fraud | Contract and legal obligation |
| Keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix faults | Legitimate interests |
| Track AI usage and cost per account to keep the service affordable and within plan limits | Legitimate interests |
| Process sensitive information you choose to share | Explicit consent |
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use your content to train AI models.
5. How the AI coach works
When you use the coach or AI-assisted features, the relevant parts of your goals, plans, reflections and conversation are sent to an AI model to produce a response. Coaching guidance is drawn from UFSL's own Unchained Goals method.
The AI models run on Amazon Bedrock in Amazon Web Services' London region. Amazon does not use the content sent to Bedrock to train its models, and does not share it with the model developers.
The coach's responses are automated suggestions to support your own decisions. The app does not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with the service providers below, each bound by contract to protect it and use it only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Crevion Commons LLC | Builds the app and manages its servers. No access to account content | United States (server administration only) |
| Amazon Web Services | Hosting, database, file storage, email delivery and AI models (Amazon Bedrock) | London, UK |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and delivery of notifications to iPhones | Global |
| Google Sign-In, Google Play purchases, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications | Global | |
| Stripe | Payments for subscriptions bought on the Unchained Goals web portal | Global |
If you connect with an accountability partner, they see only your display name and username, the challenges you join, and the encouragement ("cheers") you exchange. They never see your goals, plans, habits, journal, reflections or coach conversations. Someone you invite sees your name only once they accept.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others.
7. International transfers
Your data is stored in the UK. Crevion Commons administers the servers from the United States but does not access account content. Where any provider could reach personal data from outside the UK, we protect the transfer with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another safeguard recognised under UK law.
8. How long we keep your data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account and everything you create in the app | Until you delete your account |
| Database backups | Up to 7 days after deletion, then overwritten |
| Server logs | 30 days |
| Sign-in codes and password-reset links | 15 to 30 minutes |
| AI usage and cost figures | Kept after account deletion for cost accounting, with all link to you removed |
| Payment and invoice records held by Apple, Google or Stripe | As required by tax and accounting law, under their own privacy policies |
9. How we protect your data
- All connections between the app and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
- Our database is encrypted at rest and is not reachable from the public internet.
- Passwords are hashed, and sign-in tokens are held in your phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
- Access to production systems is restricted to named staff and logged. Account management is done by authorised UFSL staff through a secured admin portal.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access your personal data and get a copy of it
- correct data that is inaccurate. You can edit most of it directly in the app.
- delete your data. See "Deleting your account" below.
- restrict or object to certain processing
- data portability: receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format
- withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off notifications
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@unchainedforsuccess.com from the email address on your account. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. If you cannot use the app, see our Account and Data Deletion page.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel that in your Apple or Google account settings to stop future charges.
12. Children
Unchained Goals is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
